Would you like to be part of the founding members to build the base on which this space will grow? Tell me what YOU want, who YOU want to GET EXPERT ADVICE from and the peer to peer support that you need. Courses and workshops will also be available to further your professional development and knowledge within the world of respectful care. Tell me what courses you want and I'll make that happen.
As a founding member, you will get the introductory membership price for life, yes, that' s right, FOR LIFE! How much you ask? As a founding member, you tell me what you think is a fair price when you sign up and I'll work towards the majority of what all founding members share with me.
I am creating a community membership for nannies that resonate with Peaceful Learning. This will involve a safe space to talk about any issues that you are facing at the moment, ‘cup of tea’ sessions to chat, discuss ideas around activities and support one another. This will also involve courses for professional development (that can be put on your resume/CV) and courses round working in HNW households, relationship with parents and holding boundaries etc. and monthly guest speakers to have Q&A sessions with. I’m envisioning the likes of Janet Lansbury, Simone Davies and other role models in our community. You tell me who you want to speak to and I'll do my best to make that happen.
Welcome and the Potential of Childhood: We discuss our hopes for adults of the future and peek into a Montessori Environment to discuss what children are capable of from the earliest ages.
Child Goals: We look at our overarching goals for children, & human beings, & discuss ways we can support these goals with the children in our lives.
Who was Maria Montessori and how did she respond to children? Did you know that the first Montessori school opened in 1907? And that it was a doctor who discovered this method? We look at Dr. Montessori’s approach to observation and how we incorporate these observations into our methodology & curriculum today.
How Montessori Works: The Montessori approach relies on three interconnected elements: child, adult and environment. We discuss how they relate to each other, and the adult’s responsibility in preparing the environment, connecting the child to the environment, and stepping back to allow for choice & concentration.
Montessori History: We explore the early life of Maria Montessori, who drew upon her training as a medical doctor in her work with children. While she had no formal training as an educator, her observations and methodologies revealed to the world new possibilities for children. She discovered that children were capable of far more than anyone had imagined, & she dedicated the remainder of her life advocating for the rights of the child.
Montessori Ideas: The Montessori approach is founded on some key ideas uncovered by Dr. Montessori’s astute observations of children. These include the Four Planes of Development, Human Tendencies, the Absorbent Mind, Sensitive Periods and the importance of the Prepared Environment. We explore these concepts and narrow in on the characteristics of First Plane of Development, ages 0-6. We will unpack the “Montessori Equation,” & discuss how adults can support a child’s development by connecting the child to the purposeful activity within a prepared environment.
Introduction to the Prepared Environment: The Prepared Environment is an essential element of the Montessori approach. We discuss the concept and introduce the physical and non-physical aspects of the Prepared Environment. We dive deeper into the aspects we can see and touch, but also emphasize the importance of the invisible things, such as routines and expectations.
Setting up a Montessori Home Environment: We continue exploring the physical aspects of the Prepared Environment. We look at each area of a home environment and give examples of how each area of the home can be set up to support independence on the part of the child.
We will discuss how consistent routines feed a child’s sense of order and support overall development. We discuss the importance of routines, including the Montessori uninterrupted Work Period, the purposeful use of the materials and dive deeper into the role of the adult. We also discuss each building block of our day with children, including mealtimes, outdoor time, and sleep.
We will discuss when comparing a newborn to six-year-old, it is impossible not to see a completely transformed individual. We discuss the areas of the Montessori Curriculum from birth to age six, with a focus on Psychosensory Motor Development, Practical Life, Language, Sensorial, and Math.
Why do we want to inspire children? We will discuss Montessori as non-compulsory education. In some ways, it is much harder to inspire children than it is to force them! However, if we genuinely wish to educate the whole person, we do not have any choice but to motivate them. We will discuss the tools you have at your disposal to inspire children to work.
The Art of the Presentation: One of our strategies for inspiring children is to give them the gift of knowledge. After we prepare the environment, our next responsibility as the adult is to connect children with the environment. We will explore one of the most important secrets of the Montessori Adult: the presentation of a material. We will also discuss the art of “leaving,” so that children can engage and concentrate independently.
We will discuss how to set children on the path towards self-discipline, starting with leading by example. First, we must build a trusting relationship with the child before anything else. Then we must give the child knowledge of the behavior we hope to see. Next, we connect children to the Prepared Environment, setting limits when necessary and reinforcing them consistently.
Here we will talk about what Maria's bigger vision and purpose was all about. How she wanted to bring the world together, overcoming differences and work together as a collective human race. We will discuss the idea of a peaceful education and what loving discipline looks like from a Montessori perspective.
Here we will give real life examples of what it's like to implement Montessori within the home, the expectations that you should have on yourself and the child and why it is important to meet the child where they are at developmentally, we'll talk about the relationship dance and how important those steps are and even when you've set up the Prepared Environment, limits and have that trusting relationship, you will still find challenging situations!
If your house is feeling a bit tense at the moment, if you feel like you've lost control of what's happening, exhausted and you're at your wits end and you want to feel sane again, give me a call!
OR
If there is a part of your day that you wish to avoid with your child, be that sleep, mealtimes, bath times, nappy changes, getting dressed, leaving the house, play or all of the above. Let's get those pleasurable again!
I have dedicated my entire adult life learning about the development and well-being of children from birth to adolescence. I have travelled to Hungary, USA, UK and beyond to find better ways of being with children and have not been disappointed!
Over the years, I have put this into practice within the home, the classroom and more, working with hundreds of children in the capacity of a nanny, teacher, group facilitator, parent consultant and workshop provider, as well as running a worldwide holistic nanny agency.
This is my passion and my life's work. I don't believe there can be an expert of you and your relationship with your child. Only YOU really know what you need and what your child is going through. However, sometimes, when you are sleep deprived, stressed out and not taking care of yourself, you may miss out on cues and communication from your child that you would otherwise be aware of or you may have never been exposed to certain ways of being with children through your own experience as a child or within your community. That's why I would LOVE to share the tools that I know work to change behaviour, to navigate challenging situations with your child and give more for your parenting toolbox. This will help you take a step back, give a fresh perspective and see what's really going on.
What I have to share really works! And time after time I have seen success upon implementing these strategies and using the tools that I share to create a better environment for both you AND your child.
That's why I GUARANTEE THIS WORKS or your money back!
We'll start with a 30 minute no cost phone conversation to get an idea of what is happening for you and how I can help you.
